2022 Scholarship Application
Each year the Junior Civic League awards first-year scholarships to deserving high school students in the Mahoning Valley.
The eligibility criteria for the Scholarship Program are:
- Students must have at least one parent of African American origin;
- Student must be a graduating senior at a public or private high school in the Mahoning Valley (Mahoning and Trumbull Counties);
- Student seeks a degree from an accredited 2-yr or 4-yr college or university in the United States, or enrolls in a School of Nursing that is affiliated with a university;
- Must be in good academic standing with a cumulative Grade Point Average of no less than a 2.50 on a 4.00 scale; and
- Has financial need.
Junior Civic League scholarships are $1,500.00 each and are non-renewable. The scholarship is divided into two increments paid upon proof of enrollment, schedule and grades each semester or quarter during the freshman year in accordance with the terms of the application.

2022 Seals Family Scholarship Application
The eligibility criteria for the Scholarship Program are:
- Students must have at least one parent of African American origin;
- Student must be a graduating senior at a public or private high school in the Mahoning Valley (Mahoning and Trumbull Counties);
- Student must be attending Youngstown State University seeking a health related or engineering degree. Such degrees prepare them for careers in Nursing, Respiratory Therapist, Mechanical or Architectural Engineering or other engineering specialties;
- Must be in good academic standing with a cumulative Grade Point Average of no less than a 2.85 on a 4.00 scale; and
- Has financial need.
Scholarship is $1,500.00 each and non-renewable. The scholarship is divided into increments paid upon proof of enrollment, schedule and grades each semester or quarter during the freshman year. The first disbursement of $1,000 requires official letter of admittance and official registration of classes. The second disbursement of $500 requires transcript documenting GPA and schedule of enrollment for upcoming semester reflecting 15 credits for the semester.

2022 YSU Foundation Scholarship Application
Each Applicant Must:
- Be a full-time YSU student enrolled for upcoming Fall semester
- Have completed a minimum of 31 semester hours at YSU
- Have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on 4.0 scale
- Have at least one parent of African American origin
- Have three letters of recommendation
- Complete a personal statement of academic goals, career goals, and scholarship need
Depending on availability of funds, scholarships up to $1,900 may be awarded for the upcoming academic year.
